Each Weather Mutation is delivered by a matching weather event on the server, and each event lasts five minutes. During a weather window, pets in your Pen have a chance to be struck and mutated, eggs on the map take on the active mutation and can hatch pets already carrying it, and a pet you are riding can catch it while you are outside your base. Pets sitting in your inventory cannot be mutated by weather.

A running event announces itself on screen with its own name and its effect line. Dreadful sits above Grants Void Mutation to eggs struck in the map, with a countdown beside the panel and the same countdown on the HUD weather icon, so you can read which mutation is live — and that it lands on eggs out in the map — before the window closes.

A pet holds one mutation at a time. When a stronger event strikes a pet with a weaker mutation, the new effect replaces the old one, so a Shocked pet caught in a Rage or Eternal storm keeps only the higher multiplier. The panel’s Stacks with hatch mutations line is a separate group: hatch mutations stack with Weather Mutations, not with a second weather mutation on the same pet.
